Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Analyze the Fashion Industry: Understand the global fashion system, market segments (luxury, fast fashion, sustainable, etc.), key players, supply chain dynamics, and economic drivers.
- Apply Core Business Principles: Utilize fundamental concepts in marketing, finance, economics, and management within the specific context of the fashion industry.
- Execute Buying & Merchandising: Conduct market research, analyze trends, plan product assortments, manage inventory, calculate pricing, margin, and markup, and understand the buying cycle.
- Develop Marketing & Brand Strategies: Create integrated marketing communications plans (digital & traditional), build brand identity, manage social media, and understand consumer behavior in fashion.
- Master Digital Fashion Commerce: Implement e-commerce strategies, manage online merchandising, utilize digital marketing tools (SEO, SEM, email, social ads), and analyze web analytics.
- Navigate Retail Operations: Understand store management principles, visual merchandising, customer relationship management (CRM), omnichannel retailing, and sales strategies.
- Evaluate Sustainability & Ethics: Assess the environmental and social impacts of fashion, apply ethical sourcing principles, and understand circular economy models and relevant regulations.
- Utilize Industry Technology: Proficiently use key software for buying, merchandising (assortment planning tools), marketing, and e-commerce platforms.
- Communicate Effectively: Present ideas professionally (written reports, presentations, pitches), negotiate effectively, and collaborate within cross-functional teams.
- Analyze Data & Solve Problems: Interpret sales data, market research, and consumer insights to make informed business decisions and solve operational challenges.
ASSIGNMENT CRITERIA
All modules and assessable projects will be graded according to the following system. With respect to those units that are designated 'Approved for Pass/Fail' the grade will be either P or F:
